Importance of Doing Testicle Self Test for Men

HEALTH - Finding a lump in the testicle area is one of the most frightening man. If the lump is a testicular cancer, knew from the beginning could save your life.

Testicular cancer is one type of cancer that is incurable, but the possibility of cure will come down if you just can detect it after cancer cells spread.

Tip: If you have a schedule to the doctor, for example, may be for routine health checks, ask the doctor to show what kind of lump or form normal testes and which are not normal.

Once you've got the knowledge, you should be able to capture any changes that potentially a problem in your testes, says Dr. Kohler.

Doing Testicle Self Test

The best place to do a self-examination is in the shower after a hot bath.

The warmth will make your scrotum to relax, making it easier for you to feel any abnormalities that may be present, said Nicholas Cost, M.D., specialist urologist and assistant professor at the University of Colorado.

Start from the top of the left testicle. Hold the testicle between the thumb and fingers of both hands. Gently move your fingers down. Repeat with testicular right.

Look for any hard lumps, or soft, or unusual changes in size, shape, and consistency of your testicles, said Dr. Cost.

Perhaps, it is a scary thing when you until you find something strange. But, not all abnormalities of the testes, it certainly is a cancer, says Dr. Kohler.

For example, if you feel like there is a hard irregular lines on the surface of the scrotum, so maybe it is a varicocele or dilated blood vessels in your testicles.

You can also find a lump harmless cyst only possibility in your testicles.

Only a doctor can know for sure if your findings are cancerous or not. So, if you see or feel a lump or any abnormality in your testicle that suddenly appeared, immediately schedule an appointment with a urologist.
